	The Riviera Maya

The Riviera Maya is the touristic area along the highway 307 at the Caribbean coastline of the Mexican state of Quintana Roo in the east of the Yucatan peninsula. It’s the area between Puerto Morelos in the north and Felipe Carrillo Puerto in the south.

Especiaslly the area between Puerto Morelos and Playa del Carmen and further on to Tulum are famous for the all inclusive resorts, small boutique hotels and fine dining restaurants.

The three major attractions are the ruins of Tulum, the ruins of Coba and the second largest barrier reef, the Mesoamerican Barrier Reef, all along the coast down to Belize.


	Another big attraction are the Cenotes, the underground river system you find everywhere under the peninsula of Yucatan. Cave and cavern systems with amazing formations and crystal clear water attract thousands of scuba diver every year.

	Playa del Carmen

	Playa del Carmen once was a small fishing town. The tourism started with the ferry to Cozumel which used to be one of the top scuba diving destinations. Many people realize that Playa del Carmen has as beautiful beaches as Cancun but was not that crowded. Today Playa del Carmen has more that 100.000 inhabitants and is fast growing. From Playa del Carmen you can easily reach all interesting archeological sites, the Cenotes along the Riviera Maya, Cancun or Tulum and the big parks Xel Ha and Xcaret.

Playa del Carmen is the perfect central location for eventful and recreative Mexico holidays. The transfer from and to the airport of Cancun takes only 45 minutes. The famous ruins of Tulum can be reached by the comfortable local bus in just 60 minutes. Chichen Itza, Coba and the amazing colonial city of Merida are not far away as well.

Hotel Villa del Mar is located downtown of Playa del Carmen, not far away from the beautiful Caribbean beach (5 minutes), the famous Quinta Avenida (3 minutes), the central bus station (7 minutes) and the ferry to Cozumel (10 minutes). Numerous restaurants, bars and shopping opportunities are just around the corner from the hotel.
